Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk creamy and rich
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast 1 packet, a must for a fluffy texture
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for a touch of sweetness
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter adds richness
  • 2 large eggs for moisture and structure
  • 1 teaspoon salt to enhance flavors
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour the base of our dough
  • 1 cup mashed banana about 2-3 medium bananas, aromatic and fruity

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter for filling, creamy goodness
  • 1 cup brown sugar for a deep, caramel flavor
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon spicy and warm
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts optional, nutty crunch

Icing Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened for icing, rich and tangy
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened for icing, smooth
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar for sweetness in the icing
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for that lovely aroma

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let this sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add the melted butter, eggs, salt, and mashed bananas into the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
  • Gradually mix in the flour until a rough dough forms. Knead it on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling

  • In a small bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon.

Shape the Rolls

  • Roll out the dough into a 20×14 inch rectangle. Spread the filling evenly and sprinkle with walnuts if using.
  • Starting from the long side, roll up the dough tightly into a log. Slice into 12 equal rolls and place in a greased baking dish.

Final Rising and Baking

  • Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.

Make the Icing and Serve

  • While baking, beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth for the icing.
  • Once baked, spread the icing over warm rolls and enjoy.

Notes

For best results, use fresh yeast and measure ingredients accurately. The rolls can be enjoyed fresh, or stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
