Preparation

  • Line a 9 x 9-inch pan with two layers of parchment paper.
  • Fill a saucepan with water and bring it to a simmer for a double boiler.
  • Place a heatproof bowl over the pan, ensuring the bottom doesn’t touch the water.
  • Combine the chopped dark chocolate and cinnamon (or peppermint extract for the candy cane variation) in the bowl.
  • Stir gently until the chocolate is completely melted and glossy.
  • Pour the melted chocolate into the prepared pan and spread it out with a spatula.
  • Sprinkle your desired toppings generously over the melted chocolate.
  • Set aside for approximately three hours to firm up.
  • Once fully set, cut the chocolate into 3-inch pieces and serve at room temperature.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. Feel free to experiment with different toppings. Use a sharp knife to score it into pieces lightly before it fully sets for easier breaking.
