  • Wash the pears thoroughly and carefully peel them while keeping them whole. Remove the stems without breaking the fruit.

Making the Poaching Liquid

  • Combine water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, lemon juice, and vanilla in a medium saucepan. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves completely.

Poaching the Pears

  • Gently place the pears in the simmering liquid, ensuring that they are fully submerged. Turn them occasionally for even cooking.
  • Reduce heat and let the pears simmer for 20-30 minutes until tender yet firm. A fork should pierce easily without falling apart.
  • Remove from heat and allow the pears to cool slightly in the syrup. Serve warm or chilled, drizzled with the poaching syrup.
