Pastry and Filling

  • 1 sheets Puff pastry sheets (thawed) Soft, flaky, and enveloping.
  • 1 beaten egg mixed with a splash of water or milk (egg wash) For a beautiful golden finish.
  • to taste Salt and pepper To elevate the flavors.
  • 4 oz goat cheese, softened Creamy, tangy, and luxurious.
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Nutty and crunchy for added texture.
  • 1-2 teaspoons honey Sweet, sticky goodness for balance.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, finely chopped Aromatic and earthy.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to package instructions and roll it out gently to form a larger rectangle.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened goat cheese, chopped walnuts, honey, and finely chopped thyme. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cut the rolled-out pastry into 3x3 inch squares using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  • Place a dollop of the cheese and walnut filling in the center of each square. Fold the pastry over to create a triangle or rectangle shape and seal the edges with a fork.
  • Brush the tops of the pastry bites with the egg wash mixture.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pastry bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.

Notes

Serve warm with a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of fresh thyme. Pair with a refreshing salad or olives and cured meats.
