Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 packet active dry yeast About 2 1/4 teaspoons.
  • 1 cup warm milk Approximately 110°F.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 4 to 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Adjust for dough consistency.

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk Adjust for desired frosting consistency.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, cocoa powder, and red food coloring. Stir until smooth.
  • Add the yeast mixture to the bowl and mix well.
  • Gradually add 4 cups of flour, stirring until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  • Knead until smooth, using additional flour if needed.
  • Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Filling and Shaping

  • Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle (16×20 inches).
  • Spread softened butter generously over the dough and sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
  • Roll tightly and cut into 12-15 slices, carefully placing each roll upright in the baking dish.
  • Place rolls into a greased baking pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Frosting

  • Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth, add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing well, adding milk for desired consistency.
  • Frost the rolls once cooled and serve warm.

Notes

Be patient during the rising times to achieve fluffy rolls. Experiment with variations by adding nuts or chocolate chips.
