Instructions

Preparation

  • Pour the warm milk into a large bowl, then add the yeast and sugar. Let it sit until foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
  • With a whisk, add the egg, flour, softened butter, and salt. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • In a small bowl, mix the filling ingredients until combined.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently. Roll it into a rectangle and spread the filling mixture, then sprinkle the chopped apples.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log, slice into bite-sized pieces, and arrange on a greased sheet pan. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Mix ingredients for streusel topping and sprinkle over the rolls.
  • Bake for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.

Glazing

  • While the rolls are baking, whisk together the glaze ingredients until smooth. Once the rolls have cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over them.

Notes

For best results, use warm milk to activate the yeast effectively. Embrace the punch down step after the first rise for better texture. You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it after the first rise.
