  • 1 tsp baking powder To help them rise beautifully
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt For a balanced flavor
  • 1 cup butter, softened For a rich and creamy base
  • 1 cup granulated sugar For that sweet, delightful taste
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract Adding aromatic notes
  • 1 Tbsp milk To enhance the dough's texture

Icing

  • 3 cups powdered sugar For the luscious icing
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup To create a glossy finish
  • 1/4 cup milk, plus more for thinning To achieve the right icing consistency
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract For a hint of nutty flavor
  • 1 drop blue food coloring To give the cookies a frosty touch

Garnish

  • 1 cup pearl sprinkles To decorate and bring some sparkle

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and kosher salt.
  • In another large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the milk and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until combined.
  • Gradually mix in the flour mixture until fully combined.
  • Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8 inch thick on a floured surface and cut out snowflake shapes.
  • Transfer the cookies to the prepared baking sheets and freeze them for 10 minutes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely before icing.

Icing and Decorating

  • In a medium bowl, mix together powdered sugar, corn syrup, milk, and almond extract to create the icing.
  • Divide the icing batch in two, tinting one half with blue food coloring.
  • Pipe the tinted icing onto your cookies and decorate with pearl sprinkles.

Notes

Ensure butter is softened for a creamy texture and allow enough chilling time to maintain cookie shape. Adjust icing consistency with milk as needed.
